WaterQuest Landscaping

Our Story

WaterQuest was founded in 1981

WaterQuest was founded in 1981 as an irrigation repair company.  Robert Biernacki bought WaterQuest in 1993, after having spent 13 years in the insurance and financial services business. Robert soon expanded the company into groundskeeping and full-blown landscaping services.  Today. WaterQuest has over 25 employees. Three designers and project managers and services provide services all over New Mexico but primarily in Albuquerque. Rio rancho placitas and the surrounding areas.

WaterQuest Mission

We make the complex simple in the outdoors.
WaterQuest designs, builds, and maintains landscapes that conserve water, solve real-world site challenges, and feel effortless to own—combining smart irrigation, region-right plants, and craftsman installation to earn long-term trust with every project.

WaterQuest Vision

To be the Southwest’s most trusted guide for water-wise outdoor living.
We envision neighborhoods and business campuses across Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and beyond where landscapes are beautiful, low-maintenance, and resilient—powered by better ways of working, shared openly with our clients and community.

WaterQuest Culture

(How We Show Up—Every Day)

  • Clarity First. We untangle problems (grading, runoff, plant selection, irrigation logic) and explain options plainly so clients can decide with confidence.

  • Better Ways, Shared. From smart controllers to xeriscape conversions, we keep improving—and we teach clients how to get the most from their systems. WaterQuest

  • Craft With Pride. Details matter: clean lines, tight edges, correct heads/nozzles, tidy job sites, and work we’d sign our names to.

  • Safety Is Non-Negotiable. We protect our crews, clients, and neighbors with disciplined training and site practices.

  • Customer-Centered. We communicate proactively, show up when we say we will, and stand behind our work.

  • Team Strength. We learn together, grow leaders from within, and back each other up when workload or weather gets tough.

  • Stewards of the Desert. We champion water conservation and region-appropriate design—because beauty and responsibility belong together. WaterQuest

  • Community Roots. Locally owned, serving ABQ since the early 1980s; we support local events, HOAs, and businesses.

Talk About Town

My job was not exactly landscaping; it was the removal of thousands of tumbleweeds that had blown into our property. We tried mashing them into the garbage bin each week for months and it never made a dent. The guys from WaterQuest came out and made short order of thoroughly removing every tumbleweed, which was a huge job on a very hot day.   (Brad P)
